The Philadelphia 76ers basketball team plays in the Eastern Conference of the Atlantic Division in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Philadelphia 76ers started professional basketball in 1937 as the Syracuse Nationals. They joined as one of the first seventeen basketball teams to start in the NBA.
