Basketball Teams

There are hundreds of basketball teams. The NBA, NCAA, street basketball, and fun leagues all have plenty of teams. Moreover, we all have our favourite basketball team.

There is a list of the top 25 college basketball teams listed on the NCAA website, with Ohio State Buckeyes basketball team listed as number one. The University of North Carolina men's basketball team was listed as number four on the list. There are many other college basketball team names listed in the top 25.

Because most universities have more than just basketball, college teams have decided to use one name for all the clubs. For instance, the Ohio State Buckeyes are their football team, basketball team, and even their swim team.

There are only five starting players on a basketball team. However, most universities and colleges have at least a dozen players on a basketball team. In addition, all the players have basketball team jerseys to wear. These jerseys can be purchased as fan wear, too. College basketball teams like seeing their fans wear the team colors. This encourages them and shows that they have support. There are a few women basketball teams in Amsterdam. The basketball team camp brochure available online lists many locations, including Amsterdam as one of their possible camps to attend.

There are funny basketball team names, too. When one woman was requesting team name suggestions – that had to be creative and funny – many supplied names like "7-Up" and "The (Not So) Magnificent Seven." One cool basketball team name, the Baltimore Blazers, is from the Street Basketball Association (SBA) team rosters.

There are many ways a club or franchise can name their team. They can ask the public for help, put it to a vote, or in some cases use the colors they used as part of their name. In Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, one high school, the Michael A. Riffel High School named their teams the Royals because their school colors are royal blue and red. This makes things difficult, however, when your team is looking for a mascot. The team name should also sound good with the school or city that hosts them. The Riffel Royals sounds fantastic; however the Riffel Panthers does not.

Team names are extremely important. They need to invoke fear and show pride and power. So naming the team "The Cupcakes" will not do the trick. The Blazers and the Pistons demonstrate fear, power, and the fans wearing the team colors will demonstrate pride.
