Ncaa Basketball

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA, called the N C double A) creates rules for and holds championship tournaments between teams in different colleges in a variety of sports. President Theodore Roosevelt urged its creation in 1905 due to the alarming amount of injuries and deaths in collegiate sports.

One such tournament is the NCAA basketball tournement. Each year NCAA basketball teams compete for the NCAA basketball championships. NCAA basketball championship games are televised by CBS. NCAA basketball teams include three divisions in both Men's and Women's basketball. These teams compete in the NCAA basketball tourney through first and second rounds, regional finals, and semifinals until only four teams remain. The NCAA basketball final four play until one team comes out on top to win the championship.

NCAA basketball tournaments begin in March, also called March Madness. The 2007 NCAA basketball team selections were announced on March 11th. The final four teams in NCAA Men's Basketball came down to the Florida Gators, UCLA Bruins, Georgetown Hoyas and Ohio State Buckeyes. The NCAA tourney ended in the beginning of April when the Florida Gators defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes and won the championship.

The UCLA Bruins hold place as the team to win the most NCAA Men's Basketball Championship titles, a total of eleven, as well as top spot in final four appearances, final four wins, final four games and consecutive final four appearances.

In April 2007, the final four in women's basketball came down to the North Carolina Tar Heels, Tennessee Lady Vols, LSU Tigers, and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Tennessee Lady Vols defeated Rutgers Scarlet Knights and won the championships.
