Minnesota Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves basketball team play in the Northwest Division of the Western Conference in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Minnesota Timberwolves joined the NBA in the 1989-90 professional basketball season. They play their home games in the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Target Center is also home to the Minnesota Lynx, a team that plays in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA).
The owners started a "name the team" contest, which is how the Minnesota Timberwolves got their name.
The current Minnesota Timberwolves logo reveals a silver and black shadowed wolf head growling between a group of pine trees. This is over the team name with "Timberwolves" in large bottom pointed script letters of deep blue and silver. A black outline surrounds the entire logo. Other Minnesota Timberwolves logos include one where a wolf's head silhouettes behind interlocking letters "T" and "M, and another is the present logo with the 2007 playoffs symbol and team colors.
The Minnesota Timberwolves jerseys come in colors forest green, black, dark tan, white and green. Minnesota Timberwolves basketball jerseys have forest green triangles within a black boarder around the collar and armholes.
The Minnesota Timberwolves cheerleaders list sixteen professional dancers in a range of ages from nineteen to twenty-seven. The Timberwolves Dance Team performs for fanst and the Minnesota Timberwolves basketball team in between game times.
Players on the 2006-07 Minnesota Timberwolves roster include Mark Blount of Pittsburgh, Mike James of Duquesne, Justin Reed of Mississippi, and Ricky Davis of Iowa. Kevin Garnett of Farragut Academy HS is one of the team's most promoted players. Randy Wittman of Indiana acts as the Timberwolves head coach. Glen Taylor owns the franchise.
Bill Beise is a Minnesota Timberwolves super fan since their very first season. He is neither a former basketball player nor a coach. He buys season tickets in advance and performs his own rituals before and during each game. This includes pounding the team program on the floor. In 2003, the team recognized his loyalty and released a Bill Beise bobblehead.
