Memphis Grizzlies

The Grizzlies joined the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 1995 as the Vancouver Grizzlies. They were one of the first non-US cities to join the league since 1946. The team moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 2001. The Memphis Grizzlies basketball team plays in the Southwest Division of the Western Conference in the NBA. The Memphis Grizzlies home games take place in the FedExForum Arena.

The team revealed their new Memphis Grizzlies logo and Memphis Grizzlies team colors in 2004. A two-tone blue bear head with glowing eyes floats above the team name. A former logo used the Vancouver Grizzlies logo, but replaced Vancouver with Memphis.

The current Memphis Grizzlies roster lists players Damon Stoudamire of Arizona, Brian Cardinal of Purdue, Mike Miller from Florida and Dahntay Johns of Duke among others. Michael Heisley, one of the four hundred richest men on Forbes list, owns part of the franchise. Tony Barone serves as Interim head coach. In 2007, the NBA named Memphis Grizzlies guard from South Carolina, Tarence Kinsey, the Western Conference Rookie of the Month for April.

As of 2007, though the Memphis Grizzlies basketball team has yet to win a single championship, conference, or division title, their desire to win propelled them into the playoffs three times, in 2004 through 2006.
